Music Streaming App

The music streaming market is dominated by a handful of giants, but there remains a significant opportunity for niche and emerging platforms that offer differentiated experiences – particularly around artist discovery, social features, and lyric integration. A media startup engaged GrowwTech to design a mobile music streaming application that would stand out through its focus on artist connection, lyric-synced playback, and a visually immersive listening experience.

 

The Challenge

Breaking into the music streaming space requires more than just playing audio files. The client needed to solve several experience-level problems:

  • Onboarding had to immediately communicate the app’s unique value in under 30 seconds
  • The home screen needed to balance personalisation (what the user likes) with discovery (what they might love)
  • Artist profiles had to feel rich and connected – not just a list of tracks
  • Synced lyrics were a core differentiator, but implementing them without cluttering the player was a UX challenge
  • The app had to perform beautifully on both iOS and Android without maintaining two separate codebases

Our Solution

GrowwTech designed a cross-platform music streaming application that places artist connection at the heart of the experience. The design language is bold, dark, and immersive – using album art and artist imagery as the primary visual elements, with the UI components sitting elegantly on top.

Key Features Delivered

  • Engaging Onboarding Flow: A sleek, 3-screen swipeable onboarding introduces users to the app’s core value propositions – personalised discovery, synced lyrics, and curated playlists. Each screen uses bold visuals and minimal text, ensuring users understand the app’s unique selling points in seconds.

  • Curated Home Screen: The home screen showcases top-rated artists in a visually rich horizontal carousel, followed by a “Recently Listened” section for instant re-engagement. A pull-to-refresh mechanism ensures users always see the latest trending content and new releases.

  • Recently Listened Quick Access: Positioned directly below the main carousel, this section provides one-tap access to previously enjoyed artists and albums — reducing the friction between opening the app and hearing music to under 3 seconds.

  • Synced Lyrics Playback: The artist playback screen features real-time lyric synchronisation overlaid on a blurred album art background. Users can sing along, follow the song’s narrative, or simply enjoy the visual experience – a genuine differentiator from mainstream competitors.
